RIP Mary Tyler Moore

One my favorite TV icons Mary Tyler Moore.  She even had a voguing anthem after her by Franklin Fuentes.  Rest in Peace beautiful lady!

It's All Right

Forever the optimistic. Here is a classic acid house take on the original classic Sterling Void and  Pet Shop Boys "It's Alright". This  acidic version of such anthem from the DJ International mixes appeals to the healing and  positive powers of music yet it feels at times claustrophobic and filled with trepidation which seems poignant at this times we  are live in!

Thinking of a master plan

Here is a Hip Hop dance classic by Eric B & Rakim featuring the late amazing Ofra Haza to get you geared up for MLK Weekend. This was huge in the clubs during the early '90s. It was hard to resist! Enjoy!

RIP Dear George Michael

Better late than never! Yes, it has been a while. Holiday travels has kept me from giving this some love. It's hard to start the New Year  and not miss all the incredible people in music we lost in 2016! Then George Michael joins the pantheon of  music geniuses. So sad! This amazing songwriter, musician and pop icon left us so many incredible songs about love, heartbreak,  raw emotion, passion, sex, spiritually and a healthy dose of kindness for our world.  Listen Without Prejudice  is by far one of the best albums of the '90s. His ballads alone are so brilliant with that gorgeous, unique, soulful white boy voice that became a soundtrack for so many of us! His covers were nothing short of brilliant! And lastly his amazing dance tunes that graced and shook every dance floors starting with the Wham!  1983 debut Fantastic (the entire album is pure dance silly abandon), then their heart pounding pleading "Everything She Wants" from Make It Big (a classic house song in my book) to the amazing solo work of "I Want Your Sex" (the break was pure bliss to dance to), "Monkey" (...another unforgettable break) and then "Too Funky" and "Freedom '91" (both voguing anthems in my book), "Waiting for the Day" (A warm late night dance floor closer in my book)  then the fabulously chic forget me nots  "Fast Love" (...this one was pure runway darling) then the frantic coming out "so what" post Disco "Outside" to the great "Flawless" (....a remake of The Ones's 00's dance floor anthem).  I'm sure there are some other great ones that I didn't mention yet they all made the dance floors unforgettable.

...and so that is how we close 2016! The year of  many losses specifically when we loss so many  music greats! They left a big dent in Dance Music!  So, here is to a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
