Tabula Rasa

Bjork always amazes with her mind blowing music and visuals.  She just released a video for her song Tabula Rasa from her latest album Utopia which I think it's one of her best in par with Post, Debut and Homogenic.  I was so inspired that had to remix this amazing song with a loop form DC LaRue's Cathedrals. It totally takes you somewhere else without loosing the integrity of the original. Enjoy

Malamente

I just discovered this powerful young lady from Spain Rosalia Vila from Baix Llobregat. At only 25 years young, this lady sounds ancient with such a powerful voice captivating the spirit of Spanish's Flamenco music with a touch of Bjork and Beyonce. Here is a remix from "Malamente" from her new upcoming 2018 release El Mal Querer. She is going be huge! So. lately, I've been devouring Grace Jones incredibly passionate "This Is Life" from her 2008 release Hurricane.   I have been remixing this powerful song as well but felt it needed a new twist  by adding "Malamente" with the help of Miss Vanjie. Enjoy it!

Happy Birthday sweet musical genius! I've loved Bjork since her years with the Sugarcubes. Always ahead of her time both musically and visually. Winter '15 Mix (Bjorkish Inspirations)

Here is a new mix inspired by the music that inspires the great Bjork based from a recent article published regarding her upcoming exhibition at the MoMA where they mentioned the kinds of music that inspires this truly amazing artist.  The mix is as eclectic and unpredictable reflecting the wide rage of music. There are some Glamjack sprinkles and overlaps for added effect. This mix has made me discovered the brilliance of Meredith Monk, early Aphex Twin, James Blake, The Range, Black Dog Productions, Thai funk and disco pop sounds. Also her inspirations has made me rediscover the genius of Kate Bush, Nico, Public Enemy and Joni Mitchell.  The mix ends of course with "Atom Dance" from Bjork's new offering titled Vulnicura which is a true exceptional and deeply emotional work that is already considered the best among her amazing work.  Enjoy!

Revisiting Post: Hyper-Ballad

We start this October month with single handily the most beautiful and haunting song of the '90's, "Hyper-ballad". Released in 1995,  on Post which was her third studio album and a true masterpiece of musical explorations.  The album received critical praise and it's considered top on the list of the best album during the past twenty five years.  Rolling Stone magazine declared it as part of their 500 Greatest Albums of all time. Every song is a stroke of genius. She recorded it in 1994 in the Bahamas for Compact Point Studios.   Hyper-ballad was inspired by a dream and it's about a person who hides their destructive nature from their partner by "throwing little things off" a cliff.  I vividly remember being a recent transplant living in New York city as an art student doing my own explorations with media and was so inspired by this album to the point of doing a video using "It's Oh So Quiet" as the springboard for a performance wearing a vest made out of bubble wrap with blue paint on each bubble, white balloons on my head and a skirt made out of jello.  Here is video still of yours truly!
