Contigo with Bebu Silvetti

It's Sunday, a gorgeous day here in the city and here is an amazing orgasmic disco instrumental by one of my favorite composers of the '70s Bebu Silvetti "Contigo". Born in Quilmes, located in the province of Buenos Aires. He lived in Spain and Mexico and later Miami during his last years of his life. Silvetti produced, arranged and composed for a wide variety of Latin and international artists such as Placido Domingo, Luis Miguel, Vicky Carr, Rocio Durcal, Paloma San Basil, Jose Luis Perales, Juan Gabriel and Ricardo Montaner. Pretty much the cream of the crop of Latin American performers.  I never tired of listening to his work. Enjoy

200th Post!

To celebrate the 200th post of Disco Monk, I am featuring a "hot" July Mix fresh out of the oven by DJ Glamjack.  So far I have enjoyed sharing with you some of the music that makes my body move and/or elevate my soul.  I wish to be more consistent on the postings in here but life sometimes takes unexpected turns and makes priorities harder to choose.  The July Mix is very eclectic with lots of rarities of old and new that I have been listening recently.  Stand outs are Max Essa Ft. DC Mathias "How Do You Feel" which is already climbing on many DJ's favorite play lists.  I hope you enjoy this mix and use it as a soundtrack for those BBQ parties, layout on the beach, workout, long summer drives, late night house gathering pick up or unwind. It all depends on how you hear it, where, how and when.  Enjoy!

Spring Rain

Happy Friday! It's all about Spring Rain today. We had a nice refreshing healthy dose of rain. Nothing better to clear New York City air! Here is a song by one of my favorite Argentine pianist, composer and arranger Bebu Silvetti or just simply known as Silvetti. The 1977 instrumental disco hit "Spring Rain" from his LP The Sensuous Sound of Silvetti: Spring Rain is his most well known; however, his catalog of other songs is huge and nothing short of brilliant. A lot of his songs have been used in every Latin American beauty pageant and probably Miss Universe as well. In addition to the long disco version, I'm including, an amazing version I just discovered by Raul di Blasio. It sounds so fresh without being dated while keeping the integrity of the original. The arrangements of his songs are nothing but epic and orgasmic. Perfect for a spring rainy night. Enjoy!

Tempo 70

Happy Monday! Today I am posting this amazing track called "El Galleton" by Tempo 70 from one of my favorite LP's I own, Nu Yorica! Culture Clash in New York City: Experiments in Latin Music. 1970-77. Every song in this compilation is brilliant. It captures the spirit of Latin Funk during the 70's in New York city. I was researching about Tempo 70 and found very little about this band except that this comes from an LP called El Primer LP and it's the brainchild of Argentinean pianist and disco genius Bebu Silvetti who is know for disco classics such as Spring Rain. I'm not sure this information is accurate since it was dubious and debated on the blog I read it from, who knows! I believe this is a song that goes well with those Monday blues. Enjoy
